Alexander Gerard Bruce

Alexander G. Bruce, 96, of Haverhill and formerly of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at High Pointe Hospice House surrounded by the love of his family. Mr. Bruce was born in Newfoundland on April 27, 1923 to the late John A. and Selina Ann (Downey) Bruce. He was raised and educated in Newfoundland before immigrating to the United States in 1944. Alexander enlisted with the US Army in 1945 and continued his military career until his discharge in 1967, having attained the rank as SSG E-6. Mr. Bruce was very proud to have served his country during WW II, the Korean War and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam war. Upon returning home from his military duty, Alexander spent over 20 years working the meat department for Stop & Shop until his retirement in 1988. During his spare time, Alexander and his wife Betty travelled the world extensively and were very fond of the places they visited together. Mr. Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Louise (Morgan) of Haverhill and their daughter, Sharon Lee and her husband Michael of Georgetown, his grandchildren, Timothy, Jessica, Amanda and Alexa Lee all of Georgetown, his sisters, Stella West, Gartina Cormier and Bernice James as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, October 19th at 6pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
