Barbara Miller Obituary

Barbara H. (Delpero) Miller, 83 years old, of Boxford, MA, passed away peacefully at Salem Hospital on July 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara held a strong faith and was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Born in Salem, MA, on November 28, 1935, to the late Ernest and Mary (Plecinoga) Delpero, Barbara graduated from the Salem Hospital School of Nursing in 1956, and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Salem State College. She touched many lives in her long career as a pediatric nurse at North Shore Children’s Hospital, the Haverhill VNA Maternal-Child Health Program, and as a school nurse in Haverhill, where she dispensed many hugs. Barbara was a long-time resident of Salem, MA, and in 1979, fulfilled her lifelong dream of living in the country by moving to Georgetown, MA. She cultivated beauty and joy in her home and gardens along the Parker River. In later years, she and Bruce moved to Boxford, MA. Barbara possessed many creative talents and loved to garden, paint, sew, design crafts, sing, and write poetry and stories. She cherished her family and loved spending time with them, leading fun family activities and vacations. She especially enjoyed going to Florida for the winter and being hostess to her visiting family. She had a wide circle of very dear friends and was involved in many community activities, including the Georgetown Garden Club, The Red Hatters, Georgetown Book Club and St. Mary’s Women’s Club. Barbara also volunteered for the Friends of Camp Dennison, BoxTop Community Club, and the Georgetown Library. Barbara was fun, loving, kind, compassionate, creative, giving, generous and loved by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband Bruce W. Miller; her five children, Kathleen, John, Mary, Paul and Susan Miller; her daughters-in-law, Deb and Mary Miller, her son-in-law Max Schenk; and her six grandchildren, Takao, Naomi, Kaya, Sarah, Jason and Anthony Miller.
