Barbara Mae (Moffitt) Walsh, 96, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday Evening, August 8, 2018 at the Highpoint Hospice House in Haverhill. Barbara was born in Georgetown on September 23, 1921 to the late George N. and Mabel A. (Smith) Moffitt and was raised and educated here in Georgetown. Barbara was a beloved wife and mother to her large family and relished in being such a great caretaker to them all. Her nurturing skills did not end with her family as she was an involved Nanny to many children throughout her life. During her spare time, Barbara loved the beach, especially Plum Island and curling up to a good book. She was a wonderful baker and had a knack for the best brownies and banana bread, however, her greatest passion was being home as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend
Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard J. Walsh, Sr., with whom she shared over 75 years of marriage and their children, Richard J. Walsh, Jr. and his wife Debra of South Carolina, John M. Walsh of Danvers, Ruth A. Dodge of Byfield and Linda M. Prim of Salisbury, her siblings, Wayne Moffitt and his wife Norma of Georgetown, Irene Prescott of Haverhill and Marilyn Nyberg of Maine as well as her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. She was blessed by many friends, including Helene, Josie and Mary. Barbara was predeceased by her children, Barbara I. Walsh and Robert E. Walsh.
