Marcia Jean Rollins of Boxford, MA passed away after a long battle with cancer on April 9, 2018 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA. She died peacefully with her sons, Jacob and Colby, by her side at the age of 58. Marcia was born on August 5, 1959 in Beverly, MA to Ruth (Gamble) Rollins of Boxford and the late Arthur M. Rollins. She was raised in Boxford and educated in the Masconomet Regional Schools. She graduated from Lasell College in 1979 where she earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Marcia was a perioperative nurse at Boston Children’s Hospital since 2003. Previously she worked at Salem Hospital, Beverley Hospital, and as an ICU nurse at Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston from 1987 to 2003. During the course of her career as a pediatric nurse she cared and advocated for countless children in need. Her skill and dedication to her patients was unparalleled.
Marcia was a proud and loving mother to her two sons. She was selfless in raising them and worked hard to give them every opportunity in life. She was deeply devoted to her large family and hosted many festive holiday celebrations. She will be remembered as an excellent baker and cook. In her free time, Marcia loved having fun with her close friends over many meals and trips. Marcia will be remembered for her sense of humor and ability to always make her family, friends, and colleagues smile. She also loved spending time in nature and was an avid walker. Her favorite place to visit was North Conway, NH and she loved hiking, cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and kayaking.Marcia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Marcia is survived by her mother Ruth Rollins of Boxford, her sons Jacob Blaquiere of Branford, CT and Colby Blaquiere of Boxford, and her siblings Marjorie Doherty of Danvers, MA, Arthur M. Rollins Jr. of Georgetown, MA, George and Joan Rollins of Groveland, MA, Jeffery Rollins of Georgetown, Nancy Willis of Salem, NH, Judy and David Durkee of Groveland, Christopher and Mauricia Rollins of Marblehead, MA, and Melissa Rollins of New York, NY. She is survived by many dear friends, including Prudy and Paul Pilkanis of Wenham, MA.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, April 18th at 11AM in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will be private. Visitation with the family will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm in the funeral home.
