Ryan T. Atherton, 36, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away suddenly on Tuesday morning, April 3rd at his home. Ryan was born in Beverly to Linda (Young) Atherton of Beverly and the late Lawrence "Larry" Atherton. He was raised and educated in Georgetown where he was a part of the first ever super bowl championship team. He graduated from Essex Agricultural School, where he earned his degree in Landscape Management. Ryan was employed at the Black Swan Country Club in Georgetown, where he was the assistant superintendent.
Ryan's love for the outdoors and his beloved Georgetown was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends. Whether it was Sunday afternoon projects of bridges, sheds and much more with Bob, Aaron and his nieces and nephew, or, hiking, biking, and spending time at his family camp on Lake Sokokis, where he met the love of his life, soulmate and best friend Colleen, Ryan always lived each day to the fullest.
Ryan and Colleen built a beautiful life and home for their amazing daughter Brooke who was daddy's little girl. They embraced a peaceful calm in the love they shared that can never be replaced. Ryan created his own journey and left a bit of himself with everyone he knew.
Besides his Mom, Ryan is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen (King) Atherton and their daughter, Brooke, both of Georgetown, his brother, Aaron W. Atherton of Sandown, NH, his maternal grandmother, Alma Young of Beverly, his father and mother- in-law, Stephen and Kathleen King of Peabody, his brother-in-law, Stephen King and his wife Andrea of Gloucester, his sisters-in-law, Alyson Irvin and her husband Bill of Rowley and Kerry McKennon and husband Earl of Groton. Ryan is the uncle of Taryn, Bridget, Liam, Stephen,Drew and Luke. He is also survived by his close friends, Bob, Kate, Mike, Corey, Bobby, Ryan, Josh, Greg and Brad. Ryan also leaves behind his best friend, his Husky, Nanook.
Relatives and friends are warmly invited to his visitation on Sunday, April 8th from 2 to 6pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Ryan's Funeral Mass will be offered on Monday morning at 11AM in St. Mary's Parish, Andover Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown.
