It is with great sadness that we announce that Ann Marie Kilroy Lacey of Georgetown, MA, passed away on February 3, 2026, after a long illness. She passed at home surrounded by family.
Ann was born in Roxbury, MA, the sixth of nine children, to James Kilroy and Margaret Earner Kilroy, and grew up in Halifax, MA. After graduating from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1958, she lived and worked in Boston, MA, married James Lacey in 1964, and moved to Georgetown in 1968.
Ann was an avid and wide-ranging reader and a lifelong learner and creator. She was a prolific sewer who made costumes for Halloween and school plays, Christmas tree ornaments, and a horde of dolls, puppets, and spiders. She loved playing cards and games, crafting with found items, drawing, painting, and gardening most of all. In Georgetown, she served as president of the PTA/PTO and the Georgetown High School Band Parents. She was a founding member of the Garden Friends of Georgetown and could often be spotted working on the gardens in front of Town Hall.
Ann is predeceased by her sisters Margaret Fitzgerald, Ellen Fitzgerald, and Judith Thibeau. She is survived by her husband James Lacey, her children Peter Lacey and Kathleen Lacey, her granddaughter, Keziah Lacey, her daughter-in-law, Margaret Hess, her siblings, James Kilroy, Maryann Duffy, Robert Kilroy, Kathleen Needham, and Lawrence Kilroy, and a yard full of illicitly acquired lady slippers.
A private graveside service will be held in May. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer's Association -https://donorservices.alz.org
