Anne Marie Collamore 87 of Georgetown MA passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday January 6th, 2024. Born in Worcester MA on May 13th, 1936, she was raised the only daughter of Anna Power and Francis Ryan, also of Worcester MA. In 1954, Anne graduated from South High School in Worcester MA and went on to attend Springfield College in Springfield MA, graduating in 1958 with a bachelor’s degree in education. While at Springfield she met her lifelong love, James (Jim) Collamore whom she married in December 1960. She and Jim moved to Georgetown MA shortly thereafter where they lived for the remainder of their lives. In addition to raising her family, Anne worked in the Georgetown school system as a Special Education Teacher, retiring in the year 2000 after serving the community for over 17 years.
In retirement, one of Anne’s greatest joys was the annual trip she and Jim would take to Siesta Key Florida, where they would stay for at least a month, often two, enjoying sun, relaxation and the company of her then living beloved brother Paul and his wife Pat. Siesta Key became an annual gathering spot for the entire family for over 20 years, giving her the time to visit with children and grandchildren and blessing her with memories that she treasured to her death.
A devout Catholic, Anne belonged to Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Georgetown, serving for many years as a catechism teacher in the parish as well as a member of the Women’s Club. Anne enjoyed many activities to include gardening, reading, and watching the New England sports teams, in particular the Patriots. An avid swimmer, Anne spent years in her youth as a camp counselor and swim instructor and as an adult, swam with a wonderful group of ladies at the Newburyport YMCA for over 15 years.
Anne was blessed to be friends with a strong group of Georgetown women. She worked alongside them in the Georgetown Country Gardner’s Club and as part of the St Mary’s Women’s Club; she celebrated with them as a member of the Red Hatters, met with them monthly for over 25 years as part of their book club called the “Georgi Girls” and for over 30 years she joined them weekly for breakfast in various locations as a member of their breakfast group. These friendships and those of her lifelong friends both from where she was raised and those she lived alongside in her neighborhood, supported her through the years, up to and since the loss of her beloved husband in 2014.
Anne lives on in the memory of all her children, son Kevin Collamore and his wife Gail of Schertz Texas, daughter Kathie Collamore of Amesbury MA, son Frank Collamore and his wife Penny of East Kingston NH and son Bill Collamore of Georgetown MA along with her grandchildren Lauren Collamore of Austin TX, John Collamore of Brooklyn NY, Andrew Collamore of Schertz Tx, and Sydney Collamore and Rachel Collamore of East Kingston NH. She was predeceased by her husband James (Jim) Collamore, to whom she was married to for over 50 years, and her brothers Francis, William, and Paul Ryan.
Family and friends are kindly invited to Anne's Funeral Service on Monday morning, January15th at 11 o'clock in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery, Central Street, Georgetown. Visiting with the family will be held on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 6 pm in the funeral home.
