Anthony Spirito Obituary

Anthony J. Spirito, 87, of Georgetown, MA, passed away at home on Friday, November 28 th.
Born in Cambridge, MA, Tony lived formerly in Woburn then in Georgetown with his wife of 64 years, Claire. He will be remembered for the warmth and joy he brought to his family and many friends.

Throughout his life, Tony had an easy smile and carefree attitude. He had a great sense of fun and adventure, and was passionate about boating, swimming, and fishing. He loved spending time in the ocean and especially at Lake Winnipesaukee, where his family vacationed for many years.

A graduate of Cambridge Latin and High School, Tony became a professional painting and wallpapering contractor. With his father for a time and later with his son, Tony owned and operated Tony Spirito & Son; he was truly a master at his craft and enjoyed a dedicated clientele.

Tony was a member of the National Guard as a young man, the Knights of Columbus for many years, and Surfcasters fishing club for a time. A lifelong lover of music, he found great pleasure in listening to music, Jimmy Buffet being among his favorites. Later in life he was passionate about singing with the Merrimack Valley Barbershop Chorus and especially enjoyed being part of a quartet.

Tony is survived by his wife Claire (Russell), his son Michael and his wife JoAn of Sun City Center, FL, daughter Lisa and her husband Peter of Pelham, NH, and daughter Deanne and her husband Tony of Hampton Falls, NH. He delighted in spending time with them and his growing family of nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents Antonio and Carmella (Scotti), as well as his sister Eleanor, of Arlington, MA.
