Betty Louise (Manley) Rosene

Betty Louise (Manley) Rosene, 96, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on September 7 th at Port Healthcare in Newburyport. Betty was born on September 15, 1924 in a small farmhouse SW of Odell, NE to the late Everett and Ethel (Doyle) Manley. Betty was raised and educated for the first 8 years at a one room schoolhouse, before receiving her High School education in the Odell school system, graduating with her class in 1942. For many years Betty taught grades 1 through 8 in Odell before attending Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE in 1949, where she met her beloved husband, Philip G. Rosene and married on December 23, 1951. Betty accompanied Philip during his active duty in the U.S. Navy and they returned to Lincoln, NE. After Philip returned to active duty, the couple and their 6 children moved to Guam, before making their way home to Georgetown in 1970. Philip began his practice of Anesthesiology at Anna Jaques Hospital for over 34 years, until his retirement in 2004 all the while, Betty was managing their home and raising their children. During her spare time, Betty loved to candlepin bowl, vacation and was an avid reader. She also enjoyed hooking rugs, especially with floral or animal images.
 
Betty is survived by her beloved husband, Philip G. Rosene of Georgetown and their children, Dennis G. Rosene and his wife Judy of DeWitt, NE, Janice L. Proulx and her husband Michael of Jay, OK, Patrice M. Murphy and her husband Stephen of Byfield, MA, Alan M. Rosene and his wife Donna of Sandown, NH, Brian W. Rosene and his wife Cel of Bradford, ME and Lisa R. Rosene of Georgetown, MA, her grandchildren, Jonathan and Pamela Rosene, Sarah Melville and Cambria Murphy and her two great-grandsons, Philip George Rosene and Callen James Melville. Betty was predeceased by her siblings, Ruth Wellensiek and Donald Manley. 
 
Family and friends are cordially invited to her Funeral Service on Monday morning, September 13 th at 10 o’clock at the First Congregational Church, 7 Andover Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 pm at the Conte – Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
