David J. Murphy, 84, of Belmont and formerly of Peabody, passed on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by the love of his family. David was born in Salem, MA on October 19, 1938, to the late David G. and Catherine F. (Ahearn) Murphy. David was raised and educated in Peabody and graduated from Peabody Veteran’s Memorial High School with his class of 1957. Upon graduation, David enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Guam, where he was appointed to U.S. Naval Ships. During his active duty, David was apprenticed as an Electrician on these ships. A man of faith, David was very active with his church, St. Luke’s Parish in Belmont and a longtime member of the Knight of Columbus, Council 332 in Belmont. During his spare time, David enjoyed ancestry research, volunteering at The Archives in Boston and camping, however his greatest passion was being in the company of his family.
