Donald Lind, affectionately known as “Welchy”, “Papa” and “Brother”, passed into the arms of the Lord on his (and his twin sister Donna’s) birthday, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, due to declining health issues at Mass. General Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born in Newburyport on August 16, 1956, he was the son of the late Jesse and Lenora (Dunlop) Lind.
Welchy started working at an early age at the former Welch’s (Parsnip/Spinach) Farm. He was the youngest and littlest guy there and the owner took him under his wing. Hence the nickname, Welchy was born. After his stint working on the farm, Welchy began a career in carpentry, working throughout the area. He took great pride in his work and during his car rides with friends and family he would proudly show off his handywork.
He was a GREAT friend to many and loved by his family. Welchy enjoyed the outdoors and puttering around the yard and helping others. Dad, Papa, Welchy… whichever name he will be remembered by, is survived by his love of 33 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Craft, his daughter, Deanna Lind and her husband Kenny Lennon, their children, Cody, Zach, Allie and Jakob, his son, Donald “Little Welchy” Lind, Jr. and his children, Don, Jesse, Bob, Jax and Austin, his siblings, Edna and her husband Ron Pearson, Donna and her husband George Eaton and his brother, Carl, his great-granddaughter, Noelle, his nieces and nephews and his good friend, Patty Palis as well as many other good friends. Don is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Cindy Lind. He was predeceased by his brothers, Ricky and Dale as well as his good friend, Stanley “Stas” Palis.
Thank You to his “Mama”, Aides, Daughter and friends who took such excellent care of him during his illness. We all love you. See ya on the other side!!
