Elaine B. (Hopping) Dole

Elaine B. (Hopping) Dole, 83 Passed away during the evening hours of January 18, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Elaine passed away with grace and dignity following a courageous battle against cancer.
Born and raised in Boxford, Elaine was the daughter of George F.W. Hopping and Beatrice, (Smith) Hopping. She attended the local elementary school in town. She would later graduate from Punchard High School in Andover, MA in the spring of 1954.
After her marriage in 1954, Elaine worked at several jobs both inside and outside of her home for many years. During the mid-1960s, Elaine braided and sold woolen rugs and taught classes on the subject as well. For over 50 years, Elaine was the owner of the Chair Shop. Elaine specialized in the weaving of rush, (cat-o-nine tails) and cane, (split bamboo) chair seating. She was well known and respected in the furniture restoration and antique communities as well as by many loyal customers. her work has been exhibited over the years in a number of museums and historic sites throughout the region and the country.
Elaine enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and was devoted to her many pets.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 67 years Ronald D. Dole sr. of Boxford. Her two daughters Laurie Asselin of West Brookfield, MA,  Lynne Dole-Papa of Brooklyn, CT. and her son Ronald D. Dole, jr. of Boxford. Elaine also is survived by her brother George F.W. Hopping of Parker, CO as well as a number of Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.
In Lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in Elaine’s name to local animal shelters and pet rescue organizations.
