Eleanor Rogers Obituary

Eleanor Rita Rogers passed away peacefully on August 21, 2024, at the age of 101 with her loving family by her side. She was born February 13th, 1923, in Newburyport MA, the daughter of Ellen Vaughn Arsenault and William Arsenault.

Eleanor attended Newburyport schools (Immaculate Conception School and Newburyport High School). After graduating, she married George A. Rogers, Jr., of Byfield MA, to whom she was married for 48 years until his passing in 1988. Together they had 4 children, Daniel, Judith, Elizabeth and George III.

She was a very strong woman with a strong faith, a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Eleanor was employed at Western Electric in North Andover, MA for 30 years.

While there she worked at numerous jobs, the last being a Layout Operator. She was also a member of their various clubs: the Pioneer Club, Company Chorus and Guitar Club. Some of the things she truly enjoyed were spending time with her family and friends, music, singing, 20 years in her aqua aerobics class along with her YWCA friends, trips to the beach, afternoon walks with her husband George and their beloved dog “Poochie,” spending time with her treasured dog “Spunky,” and her numerous trips and cruises with her sister Virginia and her dear friends of the Newburyport Golden Ages Club.

She is survived by her children, Judith Janvrin and husband Douglas of Byfield MA, Elizabeth Lynch and husband Richard of Norway, ME, and George Rogers III of Byfield MA. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cheryl Cosgrove and husband Keith of Old Town, FL, Patricia Gorski and husband Scott of Byfield, MA and Old Town, FL, Douglas Janvrin, Jr. and wife Melissa of Byfield, MA, and William Lynch and wife Doris of Norway, ME, a daughter-in-law Alice Rogers of Byfield, MA and a sister-in-law Betty Rogers of Byfield MA, 11 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George A. Rogers, Jr., son Daniel L. Rogers, grandson Daniel L. Rogers, Jr., great-grandson Gage Lynch, sister Virginia Rogers and brother Henry Barth.
