Frances A. McCoy of Groveland died December 29 after a prolonged illness. She was 83. Born in Winthrop, Fran, the oldest daughter of Frank and Anna Giannelli, was raised in Everett. She married Robert H. McCoy from Roslindale and together they discovered the lovely town of Groveland where they raised their family of five sons. Fran had her hands full with the boys and was a loving full time mother and homemaker. She grew to love school sports and was very active in the Pentucket Regional High School football and hockey booster clubs. This led to a lifelong passion as an avid Boston sports fan. After raising her sons she worked as a nurse’s aide and hospice volunteer. Fran
also served as secretary to the Board of Health and the Council on Aging for the town of Groveland. She was a devout Catholic and taught CCD for many years at St. Patrick’s Church.
Fran was a devoted and loving wife for 47 years and was predeceased by her husband in 2004. She is survived by sons Kevin Michael and wife Dr. Loretto Brickfield, Robert Francis, Rev. Daniel Paul of Saint Mary’s Parish, Georgetown- Rowley, Dr. Brian Patrick and wife Stephanie, Dr. Michael Joseph and wife Maureen. She was a proud and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She also leaves a brother Francis Giannelli, sister Dolores Madigan, sister Vicki Giannelli, and was pre-deceased by her sister Diane Holmes.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Saturday morning, February 20th at 10:30 in St. Mary's Church, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
