Gary Scott Downs

Gary Scott Downs, age 73, residing in Kingston NH, passed away on July 24, 2020 after his battle with cancer. Gary was born on August 21, 1946 and grew up in Rowley Mass graduating from Newburyport High School in 1964. Gary was a machinist while attending Wentworth Institute and University of Mass. In 1984, an apprenticeship with Commercial Union in Boston changed the trajectory of his career. He honed his skills working for The Boston Company, Greyhound Bus and Blue Cross Blue Shield. Gary spent the first half of his life in the Massachusetts area before moving to Texas where he would spend the next 30 years. After retiring in 2019 Gary moved back north to NH to spend more time with his four granddaughters, Kelcie, Ryan, Vivian and Eavan. Gary had a love of motorcycles and traveled to rally's around the country. He was an avid reader and at times would be reading five books at once. A Beatles fan to the core, his love of music didn’t stop there. He attempted and encouraged his granddaughters to participate in music education. He had a passion for golf though his handicap didn’t show it. He was a movie buff and a New England Sports fan, especially the Red Sox.
Gary is survived by his children, Jeanne Downs Shea and her husband Tim, Tamora Downs Flynn and Richie Collins, Jeff Downs and Alex Downs. He is also survived by his siblings Ric, Keith, Kendall, Craig, Tracy and Barbara. He is predeceased by his sister, Patricia Downs and his parents Currie and Virginia Downs.
