Gordon Jellow, age 83, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, at the Kaplan Hospice House in Danvers, surrounded by his loving family. He died of a broken heart just two weeks after the loss of his beloved wife, Karen, who was truly the center of his world. His number one job in life was taking care of Karen and doing anything to make her happy. Gordon loved deeply and completely, and he wrote love letters to Karen during their many years together, which she cherished. Gordon met the love of his life, Karen, on Long Beach in Gloucester in the summer of 1962. They shared 61 devoted years of marriage and spent most of their lives together in Georgetown, rarely spending a night apart.
Born in Malden on October 23, 1942, he was the son of the late Philip G. and Lorraine F. (McDonald) Jellow. He graduated from Malden High School, where he was one of the football team captains, demonstrating early the leadership and loyalty that would define his life. He attended the United States Naval Academy before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Gordon worked for over 40 years at General Electric in Lynn as a project manager in jet engine production. He took great pride in his work and the role he played in supporting aviation and national defense. In retirement, he enjoyed working alongside his brother Rick at Luxam, where they specialized in museum-quality lighting. Their work brought them to some of the nation’s most treasured institutions, including the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, several Smithsonian Museums, and Ford’s Theatre and Museum in Washington, DC.
Gordon enjoyed the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. He loved bird hunting with his beloved bird dogs and skeet shooting at the Georgetown Fish and Game Club.
He never met a dog he didn’t like and always carried dog “cookies” to share. He had a passion for riding his Harley-Davidson with a large and loyal group of friends, especially enjoying rides through New Hampshire and their yearly trips to Laconia Bike Week. He also loved his Corvettes and other muscle cars. There was never a car or motorcycle he owned that wasn’t meticulously waxed and chromed.
Above all, Gordon was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. He leaves behind his loving children, Nadine Marcheterre and her husband John, and Timothy Jellow and his wife Amanda; his cherished grandchildren, Anna and Julia “Lia” Marcheterre, and Brendan and Hollis “Katie” Jellow; and his bonus grandchildren, Lauren and Joseph Racioppi. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nicole Jellow, and his brother, Richard Jellow. Gordon is also reunited with his beloved dogs, Molly, Daisy, and Chyna, who brought him so much joy over the years.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours for both Gordon and Karen on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Conte ‑ Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will be held at a later date.
For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gordon’s memory to Care Dimensions Kaplan House, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B 102, Danvers, MA 01923, or to the Northeast Animal Shelter.
