J. Armand Soucy

Mr. J. Armand Soucy, 103, of Seabrook NH, formerly of Georgetown, MA, passed away at Port Healthcare Center in Newburyport, MA, on June 24, 2020. Born in Westport, MA on December 17, 1916, Armand was the son of the late Antoine and Zelie (Desrosiers) Soucy. He spent his childhood first in Brentwood, NH and then in Georgetown, MA.
Armand joined the Armed Forces in January 1942 and served with the Army’s 45th Division in the European Theater of World War II. A purple heart recipient, Armand served with distinction until his honorable discharge in October of 1945. He returned to Georgetown and worked first at GE and then for the New England Carpenter's Association.
Armand loved his family, his community, and the outdoors. He spent countless hours camping, fishing, and cultivating his yard and garden. He hosted regular family gatherings throughout his life, including annual Christmas Eve parties and family breakfasts. He adored every opportunity to see his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they grew, and his own children were a great comfort to him as he grew older.
Armand was active in community service throughout his life. He joined the Boy Scouts of America in his youth, and was Georgetown’s first Eagle Scout. Armand was a member of the Georgetown VFW, DAV, and American Legion, where he served as Sergeant at Arms. He spent many years as a Scout Master and also served Georgetown as a volunteer fireman.
Armand was the devoted husband of the late Norma P. (Sanborn) Soucy for 71 years. He is survived by his four children Nancy A. (Soucy) Pearce and her husband Gerald, of Seabrook, NH, Neil A. and his wife Carol (Larson) Soucy of Rowley, MA, Cynthia E. (Soucy) Chard and her husband George of Salisbury, MA, and Michael A. and his wife Sandra (Eldredge) Soucy of Salisbury MA; his nine grandchildren Jonathan Soucy, Stacy (Noel) Perkins, Jarod Soucy, Kevin Chard, Kristin (Soucy) Callahan, Sarah (Chard) Cwiertniewicz, Adam Chard, Aaron Soucy, and Amanda Soucy; and his 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers Roger P. Soucy Sr., Roland Soucy, Arthur Soucy, and Leo Soucy, and his sisters Annette (Soucy) Beulieu and Ramona (Soucy) Fici. A graveside service will be held on July 2, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Harmony Cemetery in Georgetown, MA.
