Janis Blouin, 86, passed away June 6, 2021. She was born to the late Harold Baker and Elizabeth (Hanson) and was raised in Newburyport. Janis or “Grammy” had a fifty-year long career buying and selling Early American antiques. With an encyclopedic knowledge, she and her husband Aime combed the countryside for yard sales and auctions, making their home a cozy, happy place, filled to the brim with wonderful pieces. Janis worked everyday at her craft and genuinely enjoyed the work as well as the company of the vast network she created over the many years in the business.
As a young woman Janis thoroughly enjoyed racing stock cars at Pines Speedway in Groveland. She was so skilled that she had been invited to drive Dick Ford’s stock car. She drove it to victory in the Powderpuff Derby.
Janis was predeceased by Aime Blouin, Jr., the love of her life for 57 years, as well as their son, Edward. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Rosemary, grandsons Jaime and Henry, brother Richard Baker and his wife JoAnne. She also leaves niece Linda Kosakowski and her husband Ray, nephew Ronald Baker and his partner, Terri, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be forever loved and dearly missed.
The entire family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Partridge House for their loving care of our Janis and Grammy.
