Jeanette M. LaPointe, (Beaulieu), 89, a longtime resident of Georgetown, MA died peacefully at Merrimack Valley Hospice House on November 22, 2020 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Livermore Falls in 1930, the daughter of George J. and Idamay (LeBrasseur) Beaulieu. Jeanette was educated in Livermore Falls Maine during her elementary years until the family moved to Connecticut when her parents bought a variety store. During her high school years they moved to Lynn, MA and her parents bought another variety store (George’s Variety) where she would often work alongside other family members. She graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1949. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Georgetown. Jeanette loved to play piano, but scrapbooking was her favorite hobby. The pictures, newspaper articles and her handwritten notes documented her entire life and are a treasure to behold. She was also employed at the Internal Revenue Service for most of her working years as an adult.
Jeanette was predeceased by her Husband Wilfred J. LaPointe in 1993. She married Wilfred J. LaPointe, who she learned had the same birthday (same day, same month, same year) Wilfred was in the US Army and in 1952 was assigned to Worms, Germany where they married and had their first child and lived for two years before moving to Lynn. Jeanette was the first American Girl to be a Bride there at the Worms Cathedral. They went on to have 5 more children and moved to Georgetown, MA in 1967 where they raised their 6 children. She enjoyed over 40 years with Wilfred and enjoyed their many trips to Maine and Canada to be with family. In addition she enjoyed many other adventures on bus trips when her late husband drove a tour bus.
She is survived by her 6 children Edward J. LaPointe and wife Holly of Wilton, ME, Gary S. LaPointe and his wife Sue, of Epping, NH, Thomas A. LaPointe and his life partner Elissa of Belfast, ME, Kathleen M. White (LaPointe) and husband Thomas of Groveland. Patti Walsh(LaPointe) and husband Joe of Kingston NH, and Sandra Mawson(LaPointe) and husband Art of Derry, NH. Jeanette is also survived by her youngest Sister Arline Smith of Salem NH and her husband Frank. She was predeceased by her Sister Anita Strome and husband Aussie, and Brothers Robert Beaulieu and wife Beverly and Norman Beaulieu and his wife Pat. She also has 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren that were a big part of her life. She leaves many nieces and nephews, cousins and godchildren as well.
Jeanette is also survived by her faithful companion Gordon Dyment of Georgetown and his daughter Joyce. Gordon was in her life for the past 23 years. They met at the cemetery in 1997 where they were both mourning the loss of their spouses. She was so happy to meet Gordon and couldn’t wait to share her joy. They both enjoyed a second chance at love enjoying traveling to NH and Maine for many good times and he was always there for her. Jeanette will be missed deeply and she was known to us as Ma, Grammy, Great Grammy, Aunt, Cousin and good friend – she will surely be missed and will be forever in our hearts.
