Joanne E. “Joni” Natale, 86, of Manchester, NH, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. Theresa’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, embraced by her loving family and the devoted staff who cared for her.
Born on February 12, 1940, in Cambridge, MA, she was the daughter of Katherine V. (Woods) and Joseph H. Travers. The great love of her life was her husband, Anthony J. Natale, with whom she shared many cherished years of marriage before his passing. Together they built a home filled with music — Sunday drives wherever the road took them, listening to jazz music, and spontaneous dancing in the living room.
A deeply committed Rehabilitation nurse, Joanne devoted her professional life to the care of others, retiring after a long and meaningful career at Spaulding Rehab in Boston. Her patients adored her, and she was often gifted tokens of their gratitude — none more treasured than a hand-painted, intricately detailed landscape pastel drawing.
Music was a thread woven throughout Joanne’s life. For many years she sang with the Music Masters, and few things brought her greater joy than singing and dancing alongside her family. In her later years she discovered all sorts of music and singing along with her daughter Mary.
She also treasured the simple pleasures of grand-motherhood — having her grandson Cian spend the night, curling up together for a night of scary movies, and reveling in those unhurried moments that become the memories a family holds forever.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Natale and Mary Natale- Morrison; her grandson, Cian Walls; and her sons-in-law, Wade Morrison and Jerome Walls. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary I. Hennessy, and her brother, William J. Travers.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The family will be holding Joanne's services privately.
