John Gymziak Obituary

John T. Gymziak, 81 of Georgetown, MA passed away on October 24, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long, courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Chelsea, MA on June 19, 1944, to Raymond and Jennie (Malolepszy) Gymziak.

John was drafted in 1967 by the U.S. Army where he served in the 173rd Airborne Infantry Division. He was deployed to Vietnam in 1968 and fought bravely until discharged in 1969. John was a dedicated employee at Eastern Airlines for over 20 years as a ramp agent.

John is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Dwyer) Gymziak with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, daughter Julie Louviere, her husband Jason, daughter Christie Rondeau, her husband Frank, daughter Janina Mahoney, her husband Shane, and daughter Leah Gymziak.
He adored his seven grandchildren, Janet, Lukasz, Kaitlin, Olivia, Camden, Trey, and Tegan. He was predeceased by his brother Raymond and sister Anne. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that cherished him unconditionally.

John’s pride and joy were his grandchildren, and their adornment of him was evident. You could find “Papa” floating in his beautiful swimming pool surrounded by splashing children every summer. Christmas was his favorite holiday. He loved showering all of his grandkids in “early”
presents and singing Christmas carols.

John will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering sense of humor. He had a way of putting everyone he met at ease. His jokes were prominent even when his health struggles progressed. John’s infectious positivity and loving approach to life was his greatest gift to his
daughters. Although the world feels a bit emptier in his absence, his spirit will endure in the memories that will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who loved him.

Family and friends are kindly invited to John's visitation on Sunday, November 2nd from 2 to 6pm at Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown and again for his Funeral Mass on Monday morning, November 3rd at 11 o'clock at St. Mary's Parish, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown.
