John Anthony Olszewski

John Anthony Olszewski, 86, of Georgetown, MA, passed away peacefully at his home on November 27, 2025. Born on August 29, 1939, in Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Eugene and Lucy Olszewski. John was raised in Chelsea, MA, where he graduated from Chelsea High School as valedictorian.

John went on to earn his undergraduate degree in business from Boston College and later completed his master’s degrees at Harvard University. He proudly served his country as a Unit Commander in the U.S. Army, specializing in artillery.

John went on to build a distinguished career in the technology industry, serving as the New England Branch Director at Honeywell and later as the U.S. President of Matra. His work allowed him to travel, lead with purpose, and form relationships he valued greatly throughout his life.

John and his wife, Mary Ellen, loved spending their winters in Venice, FL. He found joy in the warm weather, days spent at Manasota Key and Siesta Key—two of his favorite beaches—and the many friendships they made there. John enjoyed golfing, reading, and smoking his pipe. He always knew the very best spot to find apple fritter donuts or coffee rolls.

John had an extraordinary talent for fixing just about anything and took great pride in being someone others could rely on. He loved puzzles, boating, hunting, and gardening, and held a lifelong passion for politics. In his later years, even from his wheelchair, he found renewed purpose and creativity through woodworking in his garage.

Nothing brought John more happiness than his grandchildren, especially attending Brooklyn and Colin’s games and competitions.

John is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Olszewski of Georgetown, MA; his children, John Olszewski, Robert Olszewski, Scott Olszewski, and Ashley McLaughlin; and his beloved grandchildren, Ryan, Courtney, Brooklyn, and Colin.

Please join John's Family on Monday, December 8th from 4 to 7pm for his visitation to be held at Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. His Funeral Service will be held during the visitation at 5 o'clock with the Rev. William Boylan officiating. A private interment with Military Honors will be held at The Mass. National Cemetery in Bourne, MA
