Joseph Gerald Muise, 90 of Georgetown MA. (formerly of Saugus, MA) passed away peacefully at home, in his sleep, the night of May 28th 2022. Born Oct 5 th 1931 in Grosses Coques, Nova Scotia Gerry spent his youth between Saugus and NS, eventually becoming a career navy man. Gerry served as a submariner and as the ad says “he saw the world”. His wife, Michelle, is most proud of the fact that he was a Chief Hull Maintenance Technician making deep sea dives to ensure the ships hulls were problem free. During his 28 years of service he was proud to serve his reserve years in Groton CT. where his unit was instrumental in reassembling the USS Nautilus at The Submarine Force Library and Museum. He also continued his dedication to service by marching and calling cadence in the Georgetown Veteran and Memorial Day Parades and standing as Honor guard for military funerals. He was an active member of the local VFW and Fish and Game and spent many years as a beloved crossing guard for Pembrook School – even dressing up as Santa Claus. Both Gerry and Michelle enjoyed every minute of their 31 years together especially their trips to Nova Scotia and the Fryburg Fair. In his free time Gerry built numerous models of all types, loved hunting with his buddy Moretti, motorcycles and cars (especially his prize Porsche) and most importantly took loving care and spoiled his much younger, by 23 years, high maintenance wife. In his last days Gerry was able to once again enjoy his favorite NS delicacies (he ran out during Covid) of dried fish and Alexander Keith’s Pale Ale. Gerry’s broad smile, infectious laugher and willingness to lend a hand when needed made him loved by all. He was one of a kind, simply irreplaceable and will be sadly missed.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 31years, Michelle, and her sons Rob and Jonathan Izzo his beloved nephew Karl Muise (Anna) and also his extended Nova Scotia family Dawn and Calvin Murray, Delores and George Smith and Danny and Cathy Belliveau.
