Joyce C. (Chadwick) Greene

Joyce (Chadwick) Greene, 97, of Georgetown passed away peacefully the evening of December 26, 2021.  Joyce was born April 30, 1924 in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of John and Ida Chadwick of Boxford, MA.  She was raised on her family’s farm in Boxford with her siblings John, Joel, Jerrold and Joan.   She graduated from North Andover High School in 1941.  She was woman ahead of her time having attended Mary –Washington College in Virginia.  It was there she there she learned welding as part of her contribution to the World War II effort.  She completed her education at the University of New Hampshire graduating with a degree in Home Economics and Education. 

Joyce married William Greene in 1946 and they settled in Georgetown to raise their family. She was a dietician at Exeter Hospital as well as a Home Economics teacher at Consentino School in Haverhill, MA for many years before her retirement. 
Joyce was very active in her community through various social clubs and her church.  She was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Boxford and past President of the Ladies Charitable Society.  She was a long-time member of the Georgetown Garden Club, and the Red Hatters.  Joyce was a loyal friend and loving grandmother.  She was an avid gardener, skilled sewer, gifted quilter and crafter and a really good cook.  She will be remembered for her love of reading and butterflies and will be missed dearly by everyone.
Joyce leaves behind her sister Joan Blake and her husband, Lawrence, of Peaks Island, ME,  her sons, William Greene, Jr. and Timothy Greene, of Georgetown, her grandchildren, William Greene, III and his wife, Julie, of Groveland, Shawn Greene and his wife, Rhonda, of Groveland, Arian Haley and her husband, Joe, of Rowley, and her beloved great grandchildren, Joshua Greene and his wife Kaitlin of Groveland, Amanda Greene and  Austin Greene, both of Groveland and Reghan and Kellan Haley of Rowley, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
