Katherine Morrison Obituary

Katherine (Kathy) A. (Kenney) Morrison,74, passed away on September 2, 2022, at Brigham &
Women’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in New Mexico to the late Robert J.
Kenney Sr. and the late Priscilla M. (Norman) Kenney on March 22, 1948. As a Mother, Sister,
Grammy, Auntie, Niece, Cousin, Forever Friend, and pet lover, Kathy leaves behind many
individuals and a few fur babies who felt her loving, caring heart and joyful spirit.
Kathy was the eldest of six children raised in Beverly. She was caregiver to her younger
siblings, a role she cherished and continued throughout her lifetime. She graduated from
Beverly High School, Salem State University, and Gordon College and obtained a Master’s
Degree in Education.
Kathy moved to Georgetown with her late husband Dennis W. Morrison. In a close knit
neighborhood she raised their son Dennis M. Morrison and established everlasting friendships.
Kathy’s door was always open to Dennis’s friends, and she touched the lives of hundreds of
young people through her many years as a Georgetown Public School teacher.
More than anything, Kathy delighted in spending time with family and friends. Her enthusiasm
was infectious. She spread joy at holiday gatherings and enjoyed dancing at parties, earnestly
rooting for the Patriots and Red Sox, skiing, hiking, walking, shopping, dining together and
relaxing in the outdoor beauty of New England’s seasons. She loved to vacation in Maine and
is well known for leading the July 4th “pots and pans parade” on Stearns Pond.
Kathy’s most devoted role was as “Grammy”. She loved her two grandsons “to pieces” and “to
the moon and back!” She spoiled them in every way and assisted with their care whenever
possible. She liked to say, “What happens at Grammy’s house stays at Grammy’s house!” and
what fun they had. She was each of her grandson’s biggest fan, a proud mother to her son, and
a sincere friend to his wife.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents, her husband Dennis W., brother-in-law Larry Morrison,
nephew Matthew Cooney, nephew Marky Veilleux, and Cousin Marc Norman. She is survived
by her son Dennis M. Morrison and his wife Linda, and grandsons Dennis (DJ) and Travis of
Newton, NH; three sisters, Cheryl Cooney and her husband William, Robin Nelson and her
husband Brad, Marianne Dube and her husband Scott; two brothers, Michael Kenney and his
wife Maria, Robert J. Kenney Jr. and his wife Mitzi; a special uncle like a brother to her, David
Norman and his wife Sandie; brother-in-law, John Morrison Jr., sister-in-law Joann Morrison,
sister-in-law Judy Veilleux and her husband Mark, sister-in-law Brenda Morrison, and much
loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, dear friends, and her little dog
Bandit.
