Kenneth Littlefield Obituary

Kenneth Edwin Littlefield, 86, of Boxford Massachusetts, passed away on April 28, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Memorial services will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on May 19th at Second Congregational Church, 173 Washington Street, West Boxford, Massachusetts. A collation will follow in the Fellowship Hall. Ken was born in Lynn Massachusetts and grew up on the ocean, sailing and fishing with his dad and digging clams on the flats beyond Revere Beach. He graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and he completed his Masters at MIT. He found his true calling later in life as Director of Human Resources at AdCole Corporation in Marlborough, Massachusetts. He saw his coworkers as family, and they loved him in kind. Ken married Barbara Rice in 1954, and they raised three children: Sandi, Nancy, and David. Barbara sadly passed away, and Ken was blessed with the love of a second wife, Jane, an outgoing, adventurous woman who brought much joy to his life. Together, they traveled the world. Ken was a founder of Four-Mile Village, a retirement community in Boxford. Seeing a need for early technical education, he was also a founder of North Shore Technical High School, now part of Essex Tech. He served for many years on the School Committee of the Masconomet Regional High School. Together with his wife Barbara, he ran The Boxford Chronicle, aptly dubbed “A town’s own newspaper.” Ken provided the gift of music, both as singer in the choir, and as organist, for Second Congregational Church, working alongside his daughter Sandi Nason, Minister of Music. In his free time, he taught a course in Boating Safety with the Beverly/Marblehead Power Squadron. He was an avid ham radio operator, making friends all over the world, long before the invention of the Internet.

Ken is survived by his daughters, Sandi Nason and Nancy DeMarco, and by granddaughters, Melissa Georgi, Kimberly Robertson, and Rebecca Nason. He also has three great-grandsons, Morgan Robertson, Russell Georgi, and Tobias Georgi. Ken was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Littlefield, his wife, Jane (Russell) Littlefield, and his son, David Littlefield.

The ocean will be a lonelier place without him, but his music will live on in our hearts.
