Leslie Duane Harriman, 77, of Groveland, MA passed away unexpectedly due to complication s of lung cancer on Friday October 9, 2020 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston with his family by his side. Les was born on April 20, 1943 in Portsmouth, NH to the late Eva M. (Woodworth) and Francis E. Harriman. Les graduated from Haverhill Trade School. Les was the beloved husband of Shirley J (Poland) Harriman. He worked for many years at General Electric in Everett and Lynn as a fabricator. Les enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Les was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing for striped bass in the Merrimack River and pickerel in Millinocket Lake. Les especially enjoyed restoring and building classic and custom cars. Les and Shirley traveled the country together attending car shows in the cars he built. Les was a stockholder at New England Dragway and enjoyed spending time there both watching events and racing. Les was a giving person and would help anyone in a time of need. Les was also devoted to his faith and was an active member of his church.
Les is survived by his wife Shirley J. Harriman, of Groveland, with whom he spent 52 years; his children Leslie Harriman of Arizona, Beth Bode of Groveland and Daniel and his wife Amy of Groveland; his grandchildren Nathan, Brandon, and Justin Harriman; Kelsey and Colin Bode; and Katie, Natalie, and Danny Harriman; and great-grandchildren Lily, Will, and Kate. Les is also survived by his brother Harold Harriman of Florida and his sister Ruth Hewson and her husband Richard of Hyannis; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Les was predeceased by his daughter Kimberley Greenler.
Family and friends are kindly invited to his Funeral Service on Friday, October 16th at 2 O’clock at The Byfield Parish Church, 132 Jackman Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
