Linda Louise (Bergstrom) Skibicki, 78, of Boxford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026. She passed as she lived, full of love and gratitude, and surrounded by the stories and strength of her family and the prayers of many. Born on October 21, 1947, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Linda was the cherished daughter of the late Frederick and Lillian (Haynes) Bergstrom.
Linda's early years were filled with joy and adventure as she grew up near Sluice Pond in Lynn, where she spent countless happy days playing by the water with her siblings and extended family. Her childhood took on a new chapter when her family moved to a farmhouse in West Boxford. There, Linda thrived in the beauty of nature, exploring fields and woods and caring for her family's beloved pets alongside her brothers and sisters. These formative years instilled in Linda a deep appreciation for family, love, nature and community—values she carried throughout her life. A graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, Linda built a life grounded in compassion and dedication to those around her. Linda devoted herself to caring for others from raising her son David to being a caregiver for family and friends through to her later work as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at the Stevens-Bennett Home in Haverhill, Massachusetts. For over 15 years, she provided comfort and dignity to residents while also contributing within the Dietary Department. Her kindness extended far beyond her professional responsibilities; even after retiring to care for her aging parents, Linda stayed connected with former residents through thoughtful visits during holidays and birthdays. These small but meaningful gestures brought light into the lives of many.
A faithful member of the Second Congregational Church community, Linda was actively involved in the Ladies Charitable Society (LCS). She served on the LCS Board and spent countless Wednesdays quilting and crafting at Park House with dear friends. Her generosity and commitment to service were hallmarks of her character that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Music was a lifelong love of Linda's. She could always be found singing along to her favorite songs, and even when she wasn't, she was humming a tune—music seemed to move through her as naturally as breathing.
Linda loved animals. She spoke of the creatures around her as if they were her family, often leaving food for them, ensuring their safekeeping and their return. She loved her old farmhouse, too. It was filled with artifacts from past generations and stories of recent holiday gatherings. She was the hub for family news and the docent of family history. Linda always considered herself a caregiver, for anyone or anything that needed care. Above all else, Linda was an incredible mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend who created an enduring atmosphere of love and belonging wherever she went. Known for her witty sense of humor, she had a gift for finding levity in any moment and leaving those around her smiling. Her son David was the light of her life.
She was the heart of her family—a source of strength who united loved ones through kindness and hospitality. Whether carrying on holiday traditions with delicious food and shared stories, or savoring simple moments around the table, all occasions were filled with laughter, and Linda's presence brought immeasurable comfort and joy to those around her.
Linda is survived by her son, David Skibicki of Arlington, Massachusetts; her siblings, Roy Bergstrom of Westerly, Rhode Island; Jackie (Bergstrom) Cunningham and her husband Tom Cunningham of Atkinson, New Hampshire; Richard Bergstrom of Enfield, New Hampshire; Barbara (Bergstrom) Doherty of Sarasota, Florida; and longtime family friend and special neighbor Allie Hayes of West Boxford, Massachusetts, as well as many treasured cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her parents Frederick and Lillian (Haynes) Bergstrom and her brother Carl Bergstrom.
A private graveside service will be held on August 10, 2026, and all who loved Linda are warmly invited to attend her memorial service at 11:30 AM at the Garden Sanctuary, followed by a reception to celebrate her life, both at Second Congregational Church of Boxford, located at 173 Washington Street. Linda's legacy is one of love, compassion, strength, and devotion to others. May her memory bring comfort to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
