Maria (Servizio) Morgia, 89, of Byfield, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2020 surrounded by the love of her children at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Maria was born in Pontecorvo, Italy on March 26, 1930 to the late Libero and Vincenza (Gelfusa) Servizio. Maria’s passions included gardening and cooking, but most of all she loved to be surrounded by her family. Sunday dinner was always a special event with Maria preparing everyone’s favorite foods, including fresh tomato sauce which would be produced by the family in her backyard at the end of each summer and then stored away for use throughout the year.
Maria is survived by her beloved children, Massimo Morgia and his partner John Bowe of Seabrook, NH, Marina DiGenova and her husband Fiorenzo of Napa, CA and Roberta Dorman and her husband John of Byfield, MA, her cherished grandchildren, Giancarlo, Davide, Nathan and Marisa and her great-grandsons, Matthew and Nicolas, her brothers, Gaetano Servizio of Beverly, Luigi Servizio and his wife Connie of Beverly and Gianni Servizio and his wife Adelia of Beverly, her sister-in-law, Lucia Servizio in Italy as well as many nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by her siblings, Bernardo Servizio and Teresa Gaudi who just passed in Italy earlier this week.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, March 13th at 1 O’clock to be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at the South Byfield Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10 to 12 noon in the Conte – Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
