Marjorie Kavanaugh Obituary


Marjorie A Kavanaugh, 83, of Newburyport, Mass., passed away peacefully at the Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport Mass., on Sat., Feb. 29, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. Marjorie was born August 13, 1936 in Boston. A native of Everett, and the daughter of the late Ralph “Fred” Weir and Margaret (Donnelly) Weir. Margie, as she was known to all, was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1954. She worked for New England Telephone Company prior to raising a family in North Reading and later in Georgetown, after moving there in 1973. She worked for many years at Georgetown Savings Bank and later at Pingree Insurance Agency in Georgetown, where she loved to spend time talking with her customers and keeping up with the latest in their lives. Margie enjoyed trips to Hampton and Salisbury Beach, holidays and gatherings with her family. She spent many years with a wonderful group of friends from the Brickett Hill community in Haverhill, where she moved in 1996. Marjorie is survived by her 4 children; son, Kevin Kavanaugh and his wife Karen of Abington; daughter Susan Kavanaugh of Plum Island, daughter Kelly Kavanaugh Marie and her husband Rob of North Andover, and son Steven Kavanaugh and his wife Lauren of Exeter, NH; cousin and “sister” Rita Ells of Chelsea; grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Sam, Ryan, Travis, George, Mary and Will; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by a brother, Richard Weir. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the care provided while at Port Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Newburyport, Mass.
A memorial mass will be held celebrating her life on Saturday March 14, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown, MA.
