Mary Rose (Szymeczko) Greene

Mary Rose (Szymeczko) Greene of Georgetown passed peacefully in her sleep on January 22, 2024, at the age of 96. Mary was born September 12, 1927, to parents Felix and Pauline of Poland, she and her siblings were raised on the family farm. After graduating from high school in 1945, Mary continued to receive her Cosmetology Certificate from Wilfred Beauty School in Boston, MA, and in 1958, she opened Donna Marie’s Beauty Salon that served the Georgetown community for over sixty years. Mary was happily married to her late husband Donald Francis Greene until his passing in 2000.

Mary is predeceased by her daughter, Donna (Greene) Pratt. Mary is survived by her son, Shawn Greene and his wife Lisa of Georgetown, MA and their son, Seamas of East Longmeadow, MA. Granddaughter, Deborah Cobbett of Groveland, MA, and her children Samantha, Derek and Dylan. Her Granddaughter Amber (Pratt) Haggstrom and husband Zach, of Epping, NH and their three boys: Mack, Nate and Owen. As well as nieces, nephews, great-great grandchildren and extensive extended family.

Active in her community mostly through her involvement with the Ladies Auxiliary of V.F.W. post 7608 where she proudly served as the first president. Mary enjoyed good food, swimming, skating, cycling and walking well into her later years. Fanatical about the New England Patriots and her beloved Boston Bruins. Coastal through-and-through, she enjoyed boating, the beach and fishing from a young age. Mary was strong, independent and always against the grain. She maintained her health until the end of her life. She will be deeply missed every day.

Family and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Mass on Tuesday, January 30th at 12:30pm at St. Mary's Church, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at Cowles Memorial Cemetery, Ipswich. Visitation will be held prior to her Mass from 10 to 12 noon at the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
