Mary Lou Rose (Cammarata) Selvitella, age 91, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. She was born on February 4, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts. She was the beloved daughter of Anthony Cammarata and Lucy (Pilato) Cammarata. She was predeceased by her sister, Grace DiTucci, and her brothers, Ronald Cammarata and Michael "Buddy" Cammarata.
Mary Lou was raised in Arlington, Massachusetts, and later resided in Revere, Massachusetts, where she met the love of her life. She went on to marry Henry A. Selvitella in 1954. Together, they shared a devoted and enduring marriage until his passing in June of 2020.
Mary Lou graduated from Arlington High School in 1951 and went on to attend Kathleen Dell Secretarial School. She later worked as a secretary for Attorney Leonard E. Pass of Revere. In her later years, after her children were grown, she began working at The Wall Street Journal in Boston. For her final employment, Mary Lou became a sales associate at The Dress Barn in Saugus, where she was known for her warmth and dedication.
A devout Catholic, Mary Lou’s faith guided her throughout her life. While living in Ocala, Florida, for 13 years, she was an active member of the church choir. She was also a devoted parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Revere, Massachusetts as well as a member of the choir. During her time in Ocala, she lovingly conducted The Song Birds chorus, sharing her gift of music with joy and earning the admiration of all who knew her.
Mary Lou was one of the sweetest and kindest of souls. She was warm-hearted, gentle, and full of gratitude and love for all. She expressed her love through her many talents, especially crocheting and generously gifting beautiful handmade pieces to her grandchildren, creating cherished keepsakes that will be treasured for generations. She was a deeply loving and devoted mother whose family always came first. Mary Lou will be profoundly missed and forever remembered for her faith, kindness, generosity, and the boundless love she shared with her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her children: Henry Selvitella and his wife Debbie of Plum Island; Anthony Selvitella and his wife Elaine of Topsfield; Lucia Selvitella of Woburn; and Sara Oldoni and her husband Kristopher Oldoni of Rowley, Massachusetts.
She was a cherished grandmother to 11 amazing grandchildren: Nicole Doucette, Dayna Carignan, Henry R. Selvitella, Jonathan Lightbody, Amara Alvarez, Krista Essegian, Katy Uhrig, Dr. Derek Essegian, Anthony N. Selvitella, Kylei McHale, and Isabella Oldoni. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, with one more blessing on the way, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend her Visitation on Tuesday, February 3rd from 5 to 8pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 4th at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 12 Park Street, Topsfield. Her interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
