Melvin Arnold Mittnick, aged 83, passed away on August 20, 2024, at his home in Georgetown, MA. Mel was born on August 12, 1941. He was the son of Sonia (Aster) Mittnick and Samuel Mittnick. His childhood was lived in Roxbury.
Mel was predeceased by his brother Marshall. Mel was much loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Mel is survived by his partner, Claire Villeneuve, his sister and her husband, Brenda and George Novoson, Claire’s sister and her husband, Irene and Roger Crosby and his sister- in- law, Carolyn Pressley as well as his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mel graduated from Boston University and NYU and attended MIT. Mel spent his long career in various aspects of Aeronautical Engineering. Mel looked forward to attending the Paris and the Farnborough Air Shows with his work friends. Mel made lasting friendships through his work with companies in the US, Europe and Japan. Mel enjoyed travel adventures, first with friends and cousins and later with his partner. His travel included the Soviet Union, wine tours in Europe and South America, music tours in European countries and trips to the Far East, India, Africa, Israel and Jordan and even though walking during this time was very difficult, Machu Picchu, music theatre and dinner with friends were important to Mel.
