Norma (Brown) York, 97, of Beverly, Mass. passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025 after a short illness. Born in Ipswich to James W. Brown and Nona F. Callahan. Norma was the wife of Myron York, Jr. Together they celebrated over 40 years of marriage before Myron’s passing in 1991. Norma was a devoted mother and grandmother to: Donna Bamford (deceased) and children Gary, Andrew, Janice, and Karen; Nancy Talbot, husband Michael (deceased), and children Michael, Amy, and Peter; Susan Moore, husband Paul (deceased), and children Christopher, Pamela, and Thomas; Paula DeConti, husband Giulio, and children Alexandra, Gabriella, Thea, Laura and Julie (deceased); David, wife Lynne and her son Jason; and Julie Bartlett, husband Bob, and children James and Elizabeth. In addition, Norma is survived by sister-in-law Fran Kale, over 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and over 30 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother George and her twin brother Norman; and her dear friend Robert Kenny. Norma attended Burdett College. After raising her family, she spent 25 years at Johnny Appleseed’s, where she was the first person to go to computer school on their behalf. She carried that skill through all of her years, printing her own cards for Christmas and her loved ones’ birthdays. Norma and Myron were members of the Hamilton American Legion and the Cove Community Center. She enjoyed traveling and especially loved to camp in New England. Norma was known to test her luck on the slot machines, enjoying frequent trips to Encore and The Brook with her daughters. A life long fan of Boston sports teams, especially devoted to her Boston Red Sox.
