Patricia Mona Connolly

 Patricia Mona Connolly, 69, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, surrounded by loved ones at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. She passed after a fierce and brave battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer. Patricia was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth Connolly Rogers of Byfield and Patrick Connolly of West Newbury. She was also predeceased by her nephew, Stephen Levesque. She was divorced from Todd S. Mayo and is survived by their two sons, Patrick Mayo and Michael Mayo of West Newbury. She is also survived by her two sisters, Kathleen Levesque and Maureen Nute, as well as her three wonderful grandchildren: Savanna, Patrick Junior, and Jackson Mayo.
Patricia cherished her devoted partner and love of her life Michael Gately along with two of his daughter’s Amy Thill and Emily Gately. She had two devoted sisters of the heart: Julie Niles and Suzanne Sanders, as well as her “adopted daughter” Naomi Tang. She was also blessed to be surrounded by supportive friends including her “Book Club Girls and Sisters-of-the-Soul” who remain avid readers and travelers today.

 Patricia graduated from Newburyport High School, Newburyport in 1970 and Lawrence General Hospital in 1973. She also received her BSN from Saint Anselm’s in 1975. She practiced as a registered nurse for over 40 years working in several capacities such as a nursing instructor at Lawrence General School of Nursing, inpatient nurse working on the med-surg and cardiac care units and community RN working at the VNA and other private duty agencies. Her last position was at Elder Services/Age Span where she played a pivotal role in advocating and caring for elders in our community. She loved being part of the team that was so passionate about providing quality healthcare to our elders. She was devoted to helping others and continued to work up until she started treatment for her disease in May of this year.

Patricia had a beautiful-loving smile and full-hearted laughter that put others at ease. She always tried to help make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. Patricia also loved being a caregiver in her personal and professional life. She devoted herself to her family, her patients, and her close friends. They all knew that she loved them through her kind words and actions. Patricia was a vibrant, strong, and intelligent woman with a fierce conviction for living life to the fullest. Her lasting message for the people she loved was to pursue the best versions of themselves even in the face of adversity. Visitation for Patricia will be held at Conte – Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown, MA. on Friday, October 21st from 4-7pm. Her funeral Mass will be held on Saturday morning, October 22nd at the Immaculate Conception Church, 35 Green Street, Newburyport at 10:30am. Patricia - who was a very passionate reader - and her family would appreciate a donation made in her honor to the GAR.
