Patricia Lee Cullen Shea, of Georgetown MA, age 81, passed away on January 20th from complications of a dreaded disease known as Primary Lateral Sclerosis. She was the beloved daughter of Olive (Dorman) and Walter F. Cullen of Peabody MA. She was a beautiful woman with a grand smile. Pat was born on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1942, in Springfield, Massachusetts and lived in rural Westfield before moving to Peabody in 1953. She is a 1959 graduate of St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn and a 1963 graduate of Salem State College with a BS degree in elementary education, where she also became a dance instructor, one of her great interests and hobbies. Upon graduation, she began teaching 4th grade at the Samual Brown School in Peabody and then in Salem before moving to Georgetown in 1976 with her family. Later in life, she taught at Georgetown Jr/Sr High School where her sons attended. She was a very active communicant of St Mary’s Parish Church in Georgetown, where she directed the CCD program and taught children religious education for over 13 years. During the decades devoted to her community through St. Mary’s, she developed many lifelong relationships.
She founded a business called Total Harmony and worked as a Personal Image Enrichment Consultant for nearly thirty years. With her background in education, she advanced in this field and ended up teaching others at the corporate level, opening a great number of travel opportunities for her. Travel was something she enjoyed greatly. One of her great adventures in life was touring Europe in the summer of 1964 with two girlfriends from college. She also combined this sense of adventure with her faith, making pilgrimages to the Holy Land of Jerusalem, Rome and other parts of Europe.
Pat is survived by her two sons: Michael of Honolulu, Hawaii and Timothy and his wife Jeanne of Kingston, New Hampshire. She was pre-deceased by a daughter, Maureen in 2015. She was also the loving grandmother of Ryan and Eavan of Kingston NH and Oscar of Honolulu HI. She leaves behind a brother, Walter and his wife Mary, a sister, Maureen and her husband Charles, as well as many nieces and nephews and cousins.
