Richard E Thompson, age 91 of Georgetown passed away on Sunday March 16, 2025, after a brief illness. He died peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late Frank and Gertrude (Bailey) Thompson. He was also predeceased by his brother Paul Thompson.
Richard or Dick as he was called started working for the Georgetown Sand and Gravel when he was 17. He worked for 50+ years for them and loved every day he was there. Dick lived with his favorite Aunt Marion (Bailey) Nunan and her husband Ken for a few years after he sold his house. For the last 39 years, Dick lived with his cousin Donna and her family. Dick watched Donna’s children, Corey Robbins and Amanda Brown grow into young adults. Then he had the joy of watching Tucker and Dakota grow and play every day. They are the children of Amanda and her husband Patrick Brown.
Dick would tell his doctors that he was living a long, healthy life because he got to spend time with his young cousins. Besides Dakota and Tucker, he spent time with Masen Nunan, who would give him a haircut on occasion.
Dick was predeceased by his cousins Bettyann (Nunan) Dole, Kenny Nunan Jr and Adam Nunan.
Dick leaves behind a large family of cousins including Kenny’s wife Mary and son Mark. Bettyann’s husband Stanley and daughters Karen, Deborah, Michelle and Stephanie, George and his son Dan, Donnie and his wife Joyce and son Matthew, Bill and his wife Teresa and their daughters Jessica and Bailey, Meriellen and her husband Tom and daughters Melissa and Jessica and Donna and her husband Eric, son Corey and daughter Amanda. The list goes on with an additional 38 spouses and children of his cousins.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 11-12 at the Conte- Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown, MA. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery.
