Richard J. Walsh, Sr. 96, of Georgetown and formerly of Topsfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport. Richard was born in Topsfield, MA on August 12, 1925 to the late James T. and Mary L. (Nadeau) Walsh. Mr. Walsh served his country proudly with the U.S. Army and received The Bronze Star. He was a longtime mechanic and technician with R.E. Walters in Newburyport. A charismatic individual, Dick stood by to help others in need and was an incredible caretaker to his family, especially to his beloved wife Barbara. He was a helpful and considerate Dad and grandfather. During his spare time, Dick loved to fish, tend to his garden, travel, usually to visit his daughter’s home in Vermont and he loved his seafood and cooking.
Mr. Walsh was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Moffitt) Walsh and is survived by their children, Ruth A. Dodge of Byfield, Linda M. Prim of Salisbury, Richard J. Walsh, Jr. and his wife Debra of NC, John M. Walsh of Hawthorne, his grandchildren, Sandra and Bill Allen, David and Betty Dodge, Lynne Rozima, Tracy Trevor, Lil Linda Prim and Kimberly Prim, Todd Prim, Bobby Walsh and Colleen Ludington as well as his many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, his siblings, Rosemarie Walsh and her husband Jim of Topsfield, with whom took great and special care of Mr. Walsh throughout the years and Phillip Walsh of FL. Richard was also the uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by his son, Robert E. Walsh, his grandson, Jason Walsh and his siblings, Jeannette Bradstreet, Mary Jane Perkins, James P., Edmound T., David and Robert Walsh.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Richard’s Funeral Service on Monday, November 22nd at Noon in the Conte – Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be prior to his services from 10 to noon.
