Robert Apprich Obituary

Robert Apprich, 86, of Newburyport, MA, passed away on August 31, 2024, with his family by his side.

Mr. Apprich was born March 30, 1938, the son of Helen Croul of Mapleton Depot, PA.   He was predeceased by his son Robert J. Apprich II of Danville, NH and his wife, Marlene. He grew up in Germantown Philadelphia, PA attending Saint Francis of Assisi and Dobbins High School. After high school Bob joined the Navy and traveled throughout Europe and returned to Daytona Beach, FL where he met the love of his life, Marlene. They married in 1958, and Bob returned to get his bachelor’s degree from Husson College in Maine. After graduating, they lived in Camillus, NY, San Jose, CA and spent most of their time raising their children in Georgetown, MA. Bob will also be remembered for his dedication to his financial career, traveling the globe as an Auditor and Controller at GE and Dynatech.

In his retirement, he spent time serving on the Board of RTN Credit Union and traveled to many conferences around the world with them. Mr. Apprich leaves his close friend, Barbara Siegert, his sister, Mary Lyons, his children; Theresa Camacho and her husband Edwin; Angela Kimball and her husband Scott; Laurel Dimatteo and her husband Dr. Peter. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Shannon Main, Molly and Nolan Kimball, Alexandra Spolsino, Michael and Olivia Dimatteo, Edwin Camacho Jr. and Travis Apprich; as well as great-grandchildren, Clancy, Emerson, Michael (Mac) and Robert (RJ). Mr. Apprich will be remembered for his dedication to his family as well as his to God and the Catholic faith. He was a CCD teacher and for years was a Sunday Mass Greeter at St. Mary’s Church in Georgetown. He also helped with the church Finance Committee. He was a leader for many clubs including Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus of Georgetown. He enjoyed helping with organizations such as The Jimmy Fund, Polycystic Kidney Disease “PKD” Foundation, People Helping People and his favorite, Friends of Camp Dennison along with his other Founding “Bob” buddies. His family wishes to thank the staff at Avita and Compassus for their kindness and compassion during his last days.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, September 5th at 10:30 in St. Mary Church, Georgetown. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown.
