Rodney Franklin Burnett, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on June 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Gail Burnett, his sons Blake Burnett and Sheppard Burnett, and daughter Alicia Burnett, grandchildren, Colten Burnett, Harry Burnett, Lucy Burnett, Izabel Burnett, Ashley Burnett, and Matthew Burnett. Born in Mount Vernon, Illinois, Rodney spent most of his childhood in Illinois and Indiana, and his adult life in Massachusetts. Rodney attended the Boston Architectural College, earning his Bachelor of Architecture, and eventually became a registered architect in most US states.
Rodney worked as an architect all of his adult life and went on to start a successful design and architectural business with colleagues, and later sold the business to pursue other ventures. Rodney loved his craft so much that he continued to work in the industry well into his 70s, along the way continuing to mentor and educate. Rodney was a kind and generous man, well liked and respected by family, friends and colleagues. He enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and co-workers, was a great storyteller, had an infectious sense of humor, loved the intricacies of baseball, and enjoyed traveling with his wife to the UK.
Rodney will be missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on through his family and friends.
All are invited to attend Rodney's Funeral Service on Friday, June 30th at 11 AM at The Trinity Episcopal Church, 124 River Road, Topsfield. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Boxford.
