Ruth Frances (Murphy) Aliferis, 81, of Windham, NH and formerly of Peabody and North Andover, passed on peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at Salemhaven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on August 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 9, 1944, to the late David and Catherine (Ahearn) Murphy. Ruth was a generous, compassionate woman who made both friends and strangers feel welcome and comfortable. Her love and devotion to her family and her faith were her essence. Ruth loved travelling with her family and sisters, playing card games in the clubhouse at Whispering Winds in Windham NH, and supporting her grandchildren, nieces and nephews in all their passions. Ruth loved playing the organ, knitting and watching her soap operas, however her greatest joy was always being in the company of her family. She will be sorely missed.
She was happily married to the late William Aliferis, and is survived by her two sons, Michael and Jeffrey Lander, as well as her stepsons, William and Christopher Aliferis and her foster son, Eric Fantasia. Ruth was the cherished grandmother of Jamie and Zachary Lander, and Tyler Aliferis, and great grandson, Sebastian Copponi. She is also survived by her extended family, Lisa Thiboult, Elyse Zissulis and Joe Copponi. Ruth was the loving sister of Elaine Plackis, Judith Giamberardino and her husband Peter, Kathleen Cusato, and the proud godmother of Veronica Giamberardino and John Plackis.
Ruth is predeceased by her children, Joseph Lander and Christine Lander and her brother, David Murphy as well as her inlaws, Trina Murphy, Nicholas Plackis and Ronald Cusato.
Family and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Mass on Monday afternoon, August 11th at 1 o'clock to be celebrated at St. Michael Parish, 196 Main Street, North Andover.
