Scott Spofford Ewell, aged 80, of Rowley, MA, passed away at his home on January 31, 2026. He was born at Beverly Hospital on February 28, 1945, to William Ewell and Nannett Verdrey Ewell. He graduated from Georgetown High School and entered the military in 1965. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, with tours overseas in Germany and Turkey.
Upon discharge from the military, he joined the U.S. Postal Service as a Maintenance Mechanic on Mail Processing Equipment. After more than 30 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2013.
Scott was known for his witty remarks, sense of humor, love of animals, and dedication to his family. He was an avid Boston sports fan, a sports card collector, and enjoyed metal detecting with friends.
His true passion was music. He was in numerous local rock bands throughout the years, where he played rhythm guitar and sang backup vocals.
He is survived by his spouse of 54 years, Valerie Jean (Crouse) Ewell; his two sons, Jeremy Ewell and spouse Rebecca (Forgit) Ewell of Rowley, MA, and Jared Ewell and spouse Stephanie (Dijanni) Ewell of Newbury, MA; his brother Andrew S. Ewell of Mocksville, NC; his five grandchildren, Nathan Ewell, Alyssa Ewell, Sarah Ewell, Laura Ewell, Addison Ewell; and his nieces and nephews.
