Scott Yeaton Obituary

Scott LeRoy Yeaton, 55, Scott was born May 14, 1964, to Robert and Anna Yeaton of Georgetown, and passed away on January 10, 2020, at his home. He graduated from Georgetown High School in 1982, where he found a sport he loved...wrestling. Scott was quite good at it, winning most of the time and he could be seen at school meets, being cheered on by his biggest fan...our mom. She loved to watch her baby wrestle. I say “baby”, but if anyone knew Scott he was far from a baby. He was a giant to most everyone that he met, 6’8” was his height -- one tall man. After graduating from high school, Scott attended ITT Technical school, where he studied drafting. Scott loved to cook for almost everyone, but especially for his nieces and nephews, including whipping up anything from cheesy steak and cheese subs, to his famous “Tornado” drinks (most people called them thick shakes/frappes, but told kids that they were tornadoes). Scott’s biggest love was fishing. The deep-sea version was his favorite, but he could also be found at the pond, catching trout, or in an ice house on the Kennebec River, fishing for smelts. Scott loved to catch the biggest thing he could, many times winning the pool on the fishing boats, while also sharing his chili and ribs with all on board, or with whomever shared the ice house with him, on the river. Funny thing -- Scott hated fish and wouldn’t be caught eating it, unless it was fried, clams, shrimp, oysters, or lobster. Just not fish! Scott made many, many friends in his life, who will all miss him! He is predeceased by his parents, Robert L. and Anna Yeaton of Georgetown and is survived by his sister, Darlene and her husband Stephen Ryan of Bradford, MA; his brother, Robert B Yeaton of Georgetown; his sister, Heather and her husband Stephen Genett; his aunts and uncles, Thelma Evans, Francis Yeaton, Elizabeth Stainton and Carol Eaton-Fournier; nieces and nephews Benjamin and Heather Ryan; Kyle, Austin and Gordon Genett; Charis, Elijah and Grace Ryan, and goddaughter Katherine York. We will miss you Scott -- “Tiny” -- little brother, nephew...uncle.
Scott's family held a small Graveside Service on Wednesday, May 13th at Oak Dale Cemetery, Middleton. Please keep Scott's family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time for them. Remember Scott in your own way -- fishing, cooking for your kids, making a donation to your favorite charity (animals and veterans were two of his favorites). Remember and celebrate him his way -- BIG...cook big, eat big, fish BIGGEST...lol. Have FUN!
