Shawn (Ryan) McCarron

Shawn Ryan McCarron, age 71, of Georgetown, transitioned on Wednesday June 28th, 2023, after a hard fought, 3-year battle with cancer. Shawn was home and surrounded by her children and husband.

Born in Ipswich, December 8, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Irene Wladkowski and Paul Ryan. She was a graduate of Ipswich High School ('69) and received her associate degree in physical therapy from North Shore Community College.

Shawn was the salt of the earth. Endlessly creative, loyal, hardworking and family oriented. She applied her passion and gifts to support her children and improve the community and people she worked with. From using her talent in landscape design to restore the courtyards at the former Penn Brook Elementary School, to exercising her love of sport and youth development as the Georgetown Middle School soccer coach, to her many years supporting staff and making memorable events perfect at Vinwood Catering Company. Shawn brought more than a little magic to everything she did, always sharing a charming story and an unwavering shoulder to lean on.

She is survived by her husband, James (Gary) McCarron of Georgetown, her four children, Erica Linehan of Seabrook, NH, James D. McCarron of Norwell, Chelsea McCarron of West Newbury, Kati McCarron of Georgetown, and six grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Shawn’s name to MGH Cancer Center or the Trustees of the Reservation.
