Shirley L. (Freeland) Maguire

Shirley Maguire, age 96, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, 2025, surrounded by family.  Shirley was born in Lowell, Massachusetts on April 1, 1929, the daughter of James and Lillian (Loranger) Freeland and graduated from Lowell High School.    

Shirley met the love of her life Frank (Mac) Maguire her senior year in high school and a year later she became a teenage bride at 19. They lived in Georgetown for most of their 59 years until Mac passed away. Shirley was an avid reader and animal lover; she was never without a dog and cat as well an assortment of other pets including an owl monkey, kinkajou, pot belly pig and many others at various times in her life. 

Shirley worked at Western Electric Company for most of her career until she retired at 53 to pursue a long fruitful life of leisure with Mac. They toured the country in an RV and during their travels found a spot in Texas where they spent their winters on the gulf coast for 20 years making many friends and memories.

Shirley was predeceased by her son Timothy and his wife Lauren and is survived by her sons David, Frank and Jay, their spouses, eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by her many friends and family.
