Sylvia M. (Christie) Spencer

Sylvia Spencer, 91, of Georgetown MA, on May 10. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ethel Christie. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald and her brother, Walter Christie, Junior. Survived by daughter,Deborah Dolan and her husband James of Groveland, MA,  daughter,  Rebecca Legare Spencer of Georgetown MA, grandchildren, Spencer Dolan and his wife Tracy, Christie Dolan, Jason Dolan, Patrick Legare, Rachel (Legare) Glidden and her husband Jeffery. She also leaves behind two Great Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Sylvia grew up in Haverhill, MA, graduating from Haverhill High School in 1946. She then worked as a switchboard operator at the telephone company, a job that she adored, until her marriage to Donald. After marriage, she lived in West Boxford for 35 years, raising her two daughters, until the death of her husband. She then moved to Georgetown where she stayed in her parents home. She was proud to live independently into her 90’s while surrounded by her family. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and camping at Hermit Island. She also loved animals and leaves behind her beloved cat Piper.

Family and friends are kindly invited to her Funeral Service on Thursday, May 16th at 11 O'clock in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8pm in the funeral home.
