Tom passed suddenly but peacefully on Feb 20, 2025, after a brief illness. He was born in Newburyport, the youngest son of Donald J and Phyllis (Hamm) Ryan. He grew up in Georgetown at the family home on Rock Pond Ave where he enjoyed many years of family gatherings, swimming, water skiing, fishing, rock skipping and anything that involved being on or in the water.
Tom attended school in Georgetown from elementary to high school graduating in 1984. While in school he enjoyed playing football for the Royals. He was in Boy Scouts for many years and achieved the rank of an Eagle Scout with Troop 50 out of Georgetown.
After high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Coast Guard (USCG) and served as a Radioman. USCG was one of his passions and where he spent many of his best days. Travelling from coast to coast and beyond was where he was most happy, on the USCGC Steadfast. Once his time was up in the Coast Guard, Tom spent many years working for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, as a Manager of the base communications office. During his tenure, he met and married and had 2 sons, Noah and Jonah. His boys were always his pride and joy. Everything and anything he did was for them.
