Wayne S. ("Sandy") McDonald

Wayne "Sandy" McDonald, 65, a lifelong resident of Byfield Ma. passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 23, 2024.  Sandy was a lifelong member of the Byfield Fire Department, being the first firefighter to join the department at age 18.  In 1985 he was appointed to the flower and sick committee.  He was also on the Firemans Sunday committee, the canoe race committee, and the softball committee.  He is fondly remembered playing after the fireman's ball alongside his father, Paul McDonald.  He was an avid fisherman as well as hunter.  Sandy was proud of being from Byfield where he could be seen giving his one-handed wave along with a proud WEE!

He was predeceased by his father Paul McDonald, his mother, Betty McDonald, his brother, Peter McDonald and his sister, Carla McDonald.  He is survived by his sister, Edna Haynes and Don Stevens from Spring Hill, Fl., his niece, Jessica Fuller and Eric Fuller of Barrington, NH, his niece, Kayla Haynes of Manchester, NH, his niece, Melanie Costa of Hampton, NH and several great nieces and nephews, his uncle, Dale McDonald  of San Francisco, CA., his Aunt, Andrea Rogers of Seabrook, NH., his cousin, Bob Rogers of Newburyport, Ma., and his cousin, Jimmy Rogers of Seabrook, NH.  He is also survived by his dear friend Kathleen Levesque of Byfield.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Sandy's Funeral Service on Friday afternoon, May 31st at 1 o'clock in the Conte - Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow at South Byfield Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to his service from 11 to 1pm.
