William Tyrie Obituary

William W. Tyrie, a lifelong resident of Georgetown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the age of 83, with his daughters by his side. Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maureen M. (Hudson) Tyrie, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage. He was a devoted father to Sandra Johnston and her husband, Barrett, of Medway, and Susan Blake and her husband, Travis, of Bluffton, South Carolina. Bill was a loving brother to Beverly (Tyrie) Knapp and a cherished brother-in-law to Linda (Hudson) and David Edwards of Wilmington. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Collin, Ryan, and Amy Johnston, Madison and Erin Blake. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.

Born in Haverhill on November 3, 1942, Bill was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth (Flanders) Tyrie. He attended Georgetown Public Schools. Following his graduation from high school, Bill proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. After completing his military service, he went on to study at the Andover Institute of Business in Wakefield, where he met the love of his life, Maureen Hudson. They married in 1966 and raised their family in Georgetown, where Bill lived for more than 77 years.

Bill was educated in the field of computer programming and spent his entire career working at ISI Systems, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Bill was a man of many talents and interests. He was a master woodworker who took great pride in crafting bookshelves, tables, desks, and completing interior home improvement projects. An avid gardener, Bill could often be found tinkering in his yard or working on projects around the house—always creating, fixing, or improving something. In addition to his many hobbies, Bill’s greatest loves were his family, friends, and dancing. Quiet with words, he expressed his joy for life on the dance floor. In his younger years, Bill and his wife enjoyed many happy years of square dancing with the Barnstormers, where they formed long-lasting friendships.

A man of few words, Bill was a wonderful listener and could always be counted on to lend an ear and offer thoughtful, steady advice. He was a quiet source of strength, kindness, love, and unwavering support. His gentle demeanor, paired with his quiet wit, will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather in honor and remembrance of Bill’s life during visiting hours on Friday, February 6, from 4:00 to 7:00p.m., followed by a funeral service on Saturday, February 7, at 11:00 a.m. Both services will be held at Conte-Giamberardino Funeral Home, 14 Pleasant Street, Georgetown, Massachusetts.
